Our mission is to create the best way to capture and share your sailing experience and we need your help to make waves amongst sailing world!
What is SailTies? SailTies is the modern way to capture and share your sailing experience. Think Strava for Sailing! We are a free app, launched to the iOS App Store in January 2021.
What problem are we solving? All sailors want to capture their time at sea, but surprisingly there is no modern way to do this! Until SailTies!
Whether tootling around a local harbour, racing with friends or island hopping in the tropics, sailing is always an adventure. Sailors want to capture their experiences to relive them when they're off the water, sharing with family and friends and to prove their experience to help them go sailing more often.
Today sailors try to keep a PAPER log book up to date, which is a frustrating task.
Tom and I came across this problem ourselves when we started sailing together in 2018 and decided to solve it, by creating SailTies.
Our journey so far
- In 2020 we built the iOS Beta during evenings and weekends in lockdown.
- In 2021 we launched our closed Beta app to the Clubhouse Sailing Room.
- January 2022 we both left our jobs (Facebook and Cookpad)
- Feb 2022 we launched to iOS App Store
- April 2022 we launched 'Group' pages for sailing clubs and groups.
- May 2022 we secured funding to start building the Android App!
We now have 1k+ sailors signed up, who have logged 30k+ nautical miles logged on SailTies, over 6 of 7 continents!
