Stock strategy idea. Help me understand why it's a bad idea?

I work in the travel industry and so take a particular interest in companies in the industry. Many of the big names are still down since the Covid Crash in 2020, some by two thirds. I've been watching these months including TRIP, ALK and CCL, among others. I haven't dug into the financials, but these seem like good brands that likely aren't going anywhere except trending up over the long term (hopefully.)

I've been watching them fluctuate which has given me an idea. If I find the 'low average' and 'high average' of their regular fluctuations, why not buy at the low average and sell at the high average? For example, if over the course of a year CCL ranges from $10 to $18, why not buy on the low end and just hang on until it rises to a number I'm comfortable selling at? Say, buy when it drops to $12 and sell when it hits $15, and do that over and over? If I can do that twice a year that's a 16% return in this example.

Obviously we can't see the future, but if the company is in good shape, even if the initial investment tanks it will come back at some point.
