The Verge writes that direct messages in Threads will get their own inbox, instead of using the inbox of the user’s linked Instagram account. Interestingly, Threads doesn’t use the paper airplane icon that Instagram does; instead, it uses an envelope icon like X.
Instant messaging in Threads will first be available to users in Hong Kong, Thailand, and Argentina. More regions are promised “soon.” Meta has not said when they will become widely available.
