OLED gaming monitors are gorgeous thanks to vibrant colors and perfect black levels. But they’re not the fastest around, with “esports” panels on LCD monitors still handily outpacing them. If you want both a super-fast refresh rate and the visual prowess of OLED tech, then this new design from LG is for you—and it’s down to $749.99 at Best Buy right now.
The LG UltraGear 27GX790A is designed for the most competitive of PC gamers, with a semi-standard 27-inch size plus 1440p resolution. But with a 480Hz panel that’s twice as fast as most OLEDs this size, plus 0.03ms response time and G-Sync support out of the box, it’s ready for the sweatiest multiplayer shooters. It’s designed with desktop gaming in mind, since it supports DisplayPort and HDMI connections but not USB-C, though it does have two USB-A ports for accessories.
With the money you save on the $1,000 list price, you can easily throw in a VESA-compatible monitor arm, which shouldn’t get in the way of the built-in RGB bling. If this design is a little too pricey for you, then you should also check out PCWorld’s picks for the best monitors.
