Developmental Anthropology

This book makes an attempt to understand some methodological and theoretical aspects of attitudinal judgement polarisation. The ‘Choice dilemma items’ are used popularly to demonstrate polarisation since three decades. On methodological aspects, it scrutinises the role of instructional bias on such items that contaminates the occurrence of polarisation. It also clarifies the meaning of choices in choice dilemma items. On theoretical aspects, further studies test the theories of polarisation over which controversies continue. They discover that the verbal, non-verbal and/or self-generated information change our minds in interpersonal context and bring polarisation. The methodological contribution and the knowledge about the change in individual’s attitudes, values and decisions through group interaction, would be of interest to academicians and professionals in psychology, sociology and management science.
