Its roots trace back to the Vietnam War where it played an invaluable role in naval operations.The Bell UH-1 Iroquois (nicknamed "Huey") is a utility military helicopter powered by a single turbo shaft engine which became famous for its use during the Vietnam War. It is the most widely used military helicopter in the world. More than 16000 have been built since 1960 used for MedEvac troop and cargo transport and air assault.The US Navys Helicopter Training Squadron Eighteen (HT-18) was established in 1972 and is based in Naval Air Station Whiting Field in Florida. It offers advanced helicopter pilot training of student aviators for the United States Navy Marine Corps and Coast Guard and selected foreign military flight students.
