In February of 2021 I purchased 109 shares of AUY, Yamana Gold. Two weeks ago, I decided to sell as I was up 20%. However, when I went to sell on April 3, it wasn't trading that day, or the next. I tried to ascertain why but apparently, I didn't type the right verbiage in the search bar because I didn't get an answer. Turns out, they acquired another mine and then separated the companies or something. On April 6, I was now the owner of 3 shares of AEM, Agnico Eagle Mines and 16 shares of PAAS, Pan American Silver and $60.00 in cash.
If I want to sell these 2 new stocks, will they be considered short term holdings since I've only owned them one week even though I owned the parent company for 2 years? Ultimately, we're not talking a lot of money if I sell, but I'm curious> Thanks for reading.
