At $1400, the Lenovo Slim 7 Pro X is a nice laptop, but a little hard to swallow given the competitive market for high-power, mid-sized notebooks. But take a big chunk off the price tag and all of a sudden it becomes much easier to stomach. So thanks, Best Buy, for discounting one of our Editor’s Choice winners from this summer. This mid-sized powerhouse with a Ryzen 7 processor and Nvidia RTX graphics is just $899.99 today.
The Lenovo Slim 7 Pro X (woof, what a name) is a 14-inch design that is surprisingly thin and light for its size. A Ryzen 7 6800HS-CE processor means this thing can crunch numbers with the best of them, and 16GB of speedy DDR5 RAM should be enough to load up as many Chrome tabs as your heart desires. 1TB of SSD storage is quite generous for a base model laptop, as is the Nvidia MAXQ RTX 3050 discrete graphics card. That should be enough to run the latest full-power games, even if you have to turn the settings down to medium.
Other charms include a sharp 2880×1620 IPS screen, double USB-C and USB-A ports for convenience, and an IR camera for Windows Hello compatibility. In PCWorld’s review, Matt Smith praised the laptop’s speedy processor and comfy keyboard, though he did note that the battery wasn’t quite as robust as some competing models (maybe switch to integrated graphics on a long haul). Best Buy is selling this model new, not refurbished, so get an order in quickly if you want one — discounts this steep don’t tend to stick around.
