If you’re going to build or buy a gaming PC capable of putting out 4K resolution for the latest AAA games, you might as well do it with a kick-ass OLED monitor—but there’s no reason to pay full price for it. Today, Amazon is offering Alienware’s brand-new 27-inch 4K OLED for just $749.99. That’s $150 off, only a month after it launched.
For the full scoop on the Alienware AW2725Q, check out Matt Smith’s review on PCWorld. Long story short, it uses an eye-popping OLED panel, super-fast at 240Hz and thus suitable for intense multiplayer games, and already smaller and cheaper than many alternatives at its original $900 price. The lack of USB-C video is a bit of a bummer, especially if you’re using a gaming laptop. But considering its capabilities and value, it’s still an easy 4.5 out of 5 and an Editors’ Choice gaming monitor.
As usual with Dell’s Alienware monitor lines, we didn’t have to wait too long to see it discounted. Dell is currently selling it for $830 right on its own site (where you can also get a 27-inch OLED with a faster 360Hz panel but lower 1440p resolution, for just $700). Amazon’s price is even better—you could add on a VESA monitor arm to make up for the AW2725Q’s somewhat disappointing plastic stand and still be well below the going rate for a 4K OLED gaming monitor.
Amazon doesn’t have an end date for this sale price, but you might want to get it sooner than later because consumer tech prices are expected to spike soon, especially in the US.
