Duties

Summary

Serves as a recognized Agency technical software authority and expert on analysis, design and implementation of one or more technologies, including: web server software, production file transfer and data exchanges; electronic messaging, groupware and collaboration software. Makes authoritative technical recommendations in support of systems critical to the entire SSA user community, as well as Agency business partners and individuals using SSA services electronically.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as project manager of one or more technologies, including web server software, production file transfer and data exchanges; electronic messaging, groupware and collaboration software.
  • Provides expertise in the development or selection, evaluation, modifications, installations, implementation and maintenance of software or hardware systems.
  • Responsible for the integration and validation, test design and execution of all major hardware, software configuration, release, version and maintenance levels.
  • Conducts analysis of complex technical matters related to testing and integrating software and/or hardware systems.

    To qualify for the 2210 IT Specialist series, the applicant must demonstrate the following competencies:

    To qualify for the GS-13, the applicant must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled, that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience must include installing, configuring and administering VMware-related software in a production environment; managing all matters related to VMware and vRealize; and writing PowerShell, Javascript, Visual Basic, C# and .Net scripts. Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
