The Asus Vivobook S 14 sits in a weirdly liminal spot in the laptop market, with some premium features and specs but an approachable price. Today, you can get an Intel variant of the design with a super-vivid OLED screen and 16GB of RAM for just $549.99 from Best Buy. That’s $400 off the retail price—but it’s only good for today, April 4th.
Packing an Intel Core Ultra 5 Series 2 processor, Arc integrated graphics, and 16 gigs of DDR5 RAM, the Vivobook S 14 qualifies as a Copilot+ laptop, so it offers a bunch of AI-powered goodies in Windows 11. The 14-inch 1920×1200 OLED screen is definitely a highlight for me because it’s still a premium feature that can be very hard to find in this price range. That said, this is not a touchscreen laptop. And the 512GB SSD is a little on the small side for something with an original price this high.
Other highlights include a backlit keyboard, plenty of ports (double USB-C and USB-A, full-sized HDMI, microSD card slot), and a relatively light weight at 2.87 pounds. This would make a great everyday laptop for a basic user or student, especially if you want to do a lot of streaming video. Just be aware that its gaming prowess isn’t going to blow anyone away—you can run the latest AAA games, but they’ll be fairly low-res and slow with the integrated graphics.
PCWorld reviewer Chris Hoffman gave this design a four-star rating, praising its long battery life and OLED screen, though note that the review model had more RAM and storage. Still, considering Best Buy is selling this version for more than $600 less, I’d say it’s still a fantastic deal. Hop on it quickly, though: Best Buy has this going as a limited sale that ends at 1 AM Eastern US time on Saturday.
