How to watch Apple’s ‘Let Loose’ event today. New iPads are expected, but what about AI?

Apple is holding its first event of the year today. Dubbed “Let Loose,” the event is expected to focus on Apple’s tablet computers, which haven’t been updated since 2022. But it’s possible that the company also may hint toward its AI plans, ahead of a full reveal at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) next month.

What to expect

On the hardware side of things, there are four products Apple is expected to reveal today:

  • New iPad Pros: The star of the show is likely to be new iPad Pro models. The new pro iPads are said to feature OLED displays, a landscape-oriented camera, slimmer bezels, and be thinner tablets overall. They are widely expected to feature M3 chips, but some reports say Apple may surprise and put a new M4 chip inside.
  • New iPad Airs: New iPad Airs are also on the table for today. But instead of just launching a new 10.9-inch iPad Air, which is the current size, Apple is also expected to launch a 12.9-inch iPad Air as well—a first for the company’s Air tablet line.
  • Magic Keyboard: Apple is expected to unveil a redesigned Magic Keyboard, the accessory that clamps onto the iPad Pro and turns it into more of a laptop. The redesigned Magic Keyboard is expected to be made of aluminum, giving it a more premium look and feel.
  • Apple Pencil: Finally, expect a new iPad stylus to be unveiled. There are rumors that this year’s Apple Pencil may be the first to offer haptic feedback.

But what about AI?

Some have speculated that Apple could hint at its AI plans today. We don’t know if that will happen since WWDC is just around the corner. More likely, if Apple does address AI today, it will likely do so in a marketing capacity by, for example, saying that new iPads are the best iPad ever for AI tasks, rather than revealing any AI software enhancements coming to iPadOS later this year.

When and how to watch

Apple is holding its “Let Loose” event earlier in the day than it usually does. Apple’s “Let Loose” event will kick off at 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET, today (Tuesday, May 7). Here are the main ways you can watch the event:
