Obviously I’m not an expert at this, but I want to put some money into this play…likely no more than $500
Looks like the price of a put for a $5 strike expiring 10/20 is about $.45.
A) Do I want buy to open, buy to close, sell to open, or sell to close to do?
B) Schwab says I don’t have enough money in my margin account even though I have $700 in there…so how much do I need in the account?
I remember seeing a chart of this earlier this year and I can’t find it anymore.
It would show over the years, how much of investor’s portfolios was in cash, divided by retail and institutional.
Thanks!
If I wanted to put a small amount of money into an account, say $500 so I could trade a little bit and learn about stocks, what type of account would I want? Are there any options that offer a short term capital gains advantage if I was buying and selling within a year? Most of it would be longer-term investments, but some would be short term (less than 1 year). I would also like to buy other securities like bonds if possible. Any advice is appreciated.
I've been investing for about a year now, and have almost $850 in the S&P 500. I had intended to put in a few dollars here and there and learn as I went, but that never really happened. My open P&L has never dropped below -10%, but I'm sure that's due to sheer dumb luck. I'd really rather not fuck up and lose that money, but I can't bring myself to sell as long as the value just goes sideways. Should I educate myself and start over or
I'm torn. On the one hand, stocks are still down from their ATHs, but on the other, there's a pending recession, issues with banks, tech layoffs, and we're still waiting for the hikes to make their way through the economy. It's tough to make sense of all this. If I didn't have a large sum to invest, I'd DCA without a second thought. In my view, though, this is a bubble. Evaluations are too high for me, but maybe I'm missing something
What is everyone’s thought and future forecast for United Airlines. I am quite intrigued and concerned with the extensive and large hiring spree they are going on. From my understanding they laid off numerous employees during peak Covid and now in a sense are rebuilding and “growing” as they claim. Just in time one would think into a looming recession. Curious about future outlook and so forth.
Office REITs are down 30-50% since I started looking at the industry. What is the market assuming will happen?
Private market cap rates seem to be stable, with some slightly increases in different locations. Public market makes it seem the industry is dying.
Stocks like BXP, SLG, VNO, HPP, KRC, DEI, etc seem to be established companies with good track records. The tenant occupancy is good and their debts are staggers.
Only thing is work fro

Hey guys, just got a job at 23 years old and I want to start my investing journey. For reference, I’m from a country in the Middle East (this is relevant because I pay no taxes) and I set up an international account with my bank so I can access the American stock market. I don’t have to pay capital gains tax but I will end up paying Uncle Sam 30% of my dividends from stocks per year. Currently my thought is to do 40% VOO 40% SCHD 20% QQQ. Is it reasonable to exp
