Playing earnings

Still a noob learning about options...

  1. If I want to play earnings and buy calls for next day's earnings, I assume the gain/loss potential is higher with ATM calls vs OTM calls. Correct?

  2. I notice a lot of call options increasing in value near the week before the earnings date (or at least all these 0dte's and 7dte's on WSB seem to suggest so). Why not just buy earnings calls months before the earnings date and then sel

To covered call or not to covered call with $LYFT?

Violently disagree with me if you will, but I believe in Lyft. I’ve been holding for a long time and have been adding more as they drop. I worked for them for awhile and appreciated their innovative tech and their partnerships with the likes of Delta, Chase, Starbucks, etc. I can see them making big moves in autonomous vehicles and surprising people with their direction over time. I actually like their move to get rid of the shared rides thing (ride with other p

Beating a 529 fund

My wife and i were discussing opening up a 529 plan. After some time taking about it i realized that I could do the same thing but with better gains and no fees like the 529 plan has. I would basically split the monthly contributions into 3 stocks, voo spy and jepi. Wouldn't that be better than a 529?

Thanks

Infamous letter from Sun Microsystems CEO to shareholders after DotCom burst

Sun peaked at a $200bn market cap in 2000 & then crashed and was finally sold for $7bn to Oracle a decade later. Their Price to Revenue ratio at the peak was only 10!

They had actual decent revolutionary products too: From Java programming language to SPARC processors, StarOffice, MySQL, Solaris OS, VirtualBox & ZFS! They were involved in all important areas of tech.

This is what the CEO wrote to bagholders:

What are some stocks reporting earnings in next 7 days you have any faith to turn a profit in the next 3, 6 or 12 months?

Walmart reports earnings on the 18th. This is the one that stands out and I believe could soar over 10% in the next 3 months. Just the common knowledge alone that they are shutting down stores in high crime/shoplifting areas along with them cutting workers unless needed, etc. I have visited Walmart stores in 7 different cities since September and even during the busiest time (Sunday at noon) they only had 2 registers open with people to scan goods. I think this

TCPC vs FSK disparity

Anyone knowledgeable on Blackrock TCP Capital (NYSE:TCPC) and FS KKR Capital (NYSE:FSK)? Both are BDCs in the lending space with dividend yields >10%.

TCPC is down over 20% YTD while FSK is up 8% YTD. What gives? Can’t find any analyst coverage.
