Feds raise rates as expected

“The Federal Reserve on Wednesday raised interest rates by a quarter of a percentage point and signaled it may pause further increases, giving officials time to assess the fallout from recent bank failures, wait on the resolution of a political standoff over the U.S. debt ceiling, and monitor the course of inflation.

The unanimous decision lifted the U.S. central bank's benchmark overnight interest rate to the 5.00%-5.25% range, the Fed's tenth co

Semi-aggressive, "safe", substantial investment - Set it and forget it!

Hey there,

I came into a decent amount of money recently and would like to invest around $25k-30k into the market. I obviously know to take this advice with a grain of salt, however, I've come to trust reddit over the years (writing that sentence just seems ridiculous lol) and am curious for your opinions.

About me; I know next to nothing about the market -- I'd like to invest into something I really don't have to pay too much attentio

NYT: People Started Buying Crocs During the Pandemic. They Can’t Stop.

Like Peloton, Etsy and Zoom, Crocs saw its business boom during the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. The company’s aesthetically questionable but easily slipped-on clogs were the perfect footwear for Americans puttering around their homes, gardens and kitchens during quarantine.

But while many people got off their exercise bikes, cut back on D.I.Y. arts projects and resumed in-person meetings as a sense of normalcy returned to the world, they have

Does anyone have any idea, im completely clueless about any of this.

Thanks.

Feedback for a situation

I have recently been attempting to sell off stock. I was notified of a buyout which I decided to take advantage of because of the gain in price.

I was notified by the exchange services that I had X amount of stock and that it would cost Y amount for the paperwork. I had no certificates so I had to pay based on the X amount of stock I was holding.

I paid the fees and did all the paperwork. When I got the payout, it was far less than promised. When I

How to research US banks?

Hello all,

Following on from the fallout of SVB, FRC etc, I think that now could be a fantastic time to buy some distressed stocks in the sector. SCHW is particularly catching my eye.

I was wondering if anyone could share a good process to research a bank? Sure, the common practices apply such as checking balance sheets and cash flows, but other important metrics such as CET rations and AOCI also exist here.

Thanks😁
