Samsung HW-Q990F Review

Having decided a few years back that a genuine 11.1.4 channel count was plenty for a flagship soundbar, Samsung’s innovations with its annual soundbar refreshes have moved away from adding more channels to focussing on improved driver designs, an acoustic lens over the subwoofer driver, and general audio processing tinkering. This relatively conservative – [...]

Here’s a first look at WiiM’s challenger to Apple and Sonos’ smart speakers

WiiM is best known for its music streamers and streaming accessories, but Munich High End saw them step into uncharted territory. And it could give Apple and Sonos cause for concern. Ahead of High End, they announced several new devices, including a streaming amp, a home cinema subwoofer, and what I’ll be paying attention here, [...]

Show HN: Sshsync – CLI tool to run shell commands across multiple remote servers

I built a CLI tool called `sshsync` to run shell commands and transfer files across multiple servers over SSH concurrently.

It was inspired by tools like `pssh`, but I wanted something more modern, intuitive, and Pythonic.

What it does:

- Run shell commands on multiple servers (in parallel) - Push/pull files or directories with progress bars - Uses `~/.ssh/config` and lets you group hosts with YAML - Supports `--dry-run` mode to preview actions without executing - Outputs results using

Show HN: Job board aggregator for best paying remote SWE jobs in the U.S.

I’ve been a remote SWE since the pandemic and truly appreciate its flexibilities and time saved from not commuting. Lately, friends and close ones have been asking me for advice on finding remote roles. I shared my remote company spreadsheet with them, but realized it was a rather manual process to scroll and refresh each company’s career page for new postings.

So I put together a centralized job board aggregator that lists the best paying SWE jobs in one place, starting with the U.S. and

Show HN: Python Simulator of David Deutsch’s "Constructor Theory of Time"

Hi HN,

I turned the freshly published paper “The Constructor Theory of Time” by David Deutsch and Chiara Marletto (arXiv, 13 May 2025) into an executable Python library.

What you’ll find • One-to-one translation of the paper’s formalism: Substrates, Attributes, Tasks, Constructors, and task-algebra operators • Possibility / impossibility predicates and counterfactuals encoded exactly as defined • Test suite that mirrors every lemma and example (>95 % coverage, mypy-typed) • Reproduct

Meeting an online friend in person for the first time can be pretty awkward. If only there were a way to skip the weird small talk part and get right into the flow of real conversation — like, say, getting shrunk down to the size of a chess piece and trapped in a series of board games, forcing you to communicate so you can find your way out. That's exactly the scenario in which characters Alex and Sarah find themselves in the

Show HN: Vaev – A browser engine built from scratch (It renders google.com)

We’ve been working on Vaev, a minimal web browser engine built from scratch. It supports HTML/XHTML, the CSS cascade, @page rules for pagination, and print-to-PDF rendering. It even handles calc(), var(), and percentage units—and yes, it renders Google.com (mostly).

This is an experimental project focused on learning and exploration. Networking is basic (http:// and file:// only), and grid layouts aren’t supported yet, but we’re making progress fast.

Show HN: Stack Error – ergonomic error handling for Rust

Stack Error reduces the up-front cost of designing an error handling solution for your project, so that you focus on writing great libraries and applications.

Stack Error has three goals:

1. Provide ergonomics similar to anyhow.

2. Create informative error messages that facilitate debugging.

3. Provide typed data that facilitates runtime error handling.

Show HN: Model2vec-Rs – Fast Static Text Embeddings in Rust

Hey HN! We’ve just open-sourced model2vec-rs, a Rust crate for loading and running Model2Vec static embedding models with zero Python dependency. This allows you to embed text at (very) high throughput; for example, in a Rust-based microservice or CLI tool. This can be used for semantic search, retrieval, RAG, or any other text embedding usecase.

Main Features:

- Rust-native inference: Load any Model2Vec model from Hugging Face or your local path with StaticModel::from_pretrained(...).

Show HN: Buckaroo – Data table UI for Notebooks

Buckaroo is my open source project. It is a dataframe viewer that has the basic features we expect in a modern table - scroll, search, sort. In addition there are summary stats, and histograms available. Buckaroo support Pandas and Polars dataframes and works on Jupter, Marimo, VSCode and Google Colab notebooks. All of this is extensible. I think of Buckaroo as a framework for building table UIs, and an initial data exploration app built on top of that framework. AG-Grid is used for the core
