How does a put transaction work?

Say disney is currently at $92.

Today is friday. The put seller (Jack) agrees to buy shares at $85 by next friday..

This weekend passes. Lets say on Monday it drops to $80.

The put buyer (Jill) exercises the option.

Who is selling 100 shares to Jack?

I was told a put buyer (in this case Jill) doeant need to own shares in order to buy puts. So if Jill doeant own shares, who is selling Jack those 100 shares when Jill exercises

Has anyone else looked into WY?

I’ve been looking into WY as there balance sheet is solid and yet it seems under appreciated by investors. I could be wrong but their EV/FCF ratio is 12.08 suggesting they could be highly undervalued. Do you guys have any thoughts on the company?

Does anyone feel like AI is going to hurt tech stocks instead of helping them?

Is AI going to tank tech stocks instead of helping them?

Anyone remember 3D printing? Lol does anyone else feel like AI is being hyped up right now?

I know the argument can be made about the internet in its beginning stages but let me ask you this if jobs get replaced by AI then wouldn't you think that it would hurt companies as now there could possibly be less people purchasing its products? Don't you want more people having jobs and there

Wolfspeed has been acting like a dog

Out of all the semis $WOLF has been acting like a dog, management is silent while the stock price gets decimated, PAPA Elon didn't help either when he announced his plan to pivot away from Silicon carbide but on the other hand ON semi bounced back from that meanwhile WOLF is making multi year new lows for the past month, down %55 in the past 6 month.

What are your thoughts on that dog?

Does anyone have a Motley Fool Stock Advisor subscription and would like to share what's currently in the scorecard + performance.

I had a subscription for a very long time and their researches and picks are usually fairly decent, just haven't renewed the last couple of years and was wondering if anything changes plus their current stats.

If you had to invest in one country's stock market long term, which country would you choose?

Discussion: If you had to invest in one country's stock market long term, which country would you choose?

  • If your choice is US, provide 1 country in addition.
  • No VXUS, no VT, single countries only.
  • The investment needs to be held for at least 10-20 years.

89% of companies in the S&P 500 have reported and earnings continue to show remarkable growth. **8.0% YoY and 25.4% vs. Q4**!

Edit: being downvoted hard! people reaaally want negative news right now only!

After earnings tumbled -27% over 4 quarters, the S&P 500 is beginning to show signs that a profound "earnings recession" has finally come to an end and reversing course. According to Standard & Poor's published earnings for their index:

  • 2023 Q1 vs. 2022 Q1

Short term DIS bounce?

Does anyone else here think the Disney selloff may have been a bit harsh? I get that long term it may not do as well, but it’s lost almost 10% after earnings. I personally think it may be due for a bounce, and as such I put a bet on some 6/16 $95 calls that are currently down about 30%. Never a good feeling, but thinking there may be a bounce before then back to $97-$98 range. How do you all feel about that?

10k, 1 stock, locked for 2 years. Which one ?

Hey,

I did this tought experiment few years ago and it worked amazing. Its very simple you have 10k you choose 1 stock and this one gets locked for 2 years. Which one do you choose ?

To keep it clean and simple here are few you rules:

- You can only name on stock/etf

- Please check first is the stock is named and give it an upvote! (it's simpler to evaluate)

Thanks wish you a great weekend!
