What stocks to buy if I believe residential and commercial real estate is about to go into another 2008 scenario

So I do not think we will see an exact rollout like 2008 but something with a similar endpoint: We enter a recession for many reasons and we get into a situation where not enough entities (for residential it would be people and for commercial it would be companies) pay their rent/mortgage. The chance of a recession in the next 2 years is much higher than not. There are only a few people out there saying there is a chance of no recession - but even they all say i

Oil stocks on the rise

I read that Chase bank thinks gas could rise to 380 dollars a barrel. Or this is true is there a better company to invest in over another one? I would like to grow my portfolio but want to do it smartly. Any suggestions would be great.

Is virtual reality something worth investing in?

It seems like the stocks which consistently outperform the overall market are in new mediums. The most recent would be in tech stocks with Apple, Facebook, Amazon, and Google. Considering that virtual reality could be the next big thing, it could deliver very large returns. Of course, if it's just a fad, it will lose money. Or maybe there will be a bubble which pops like in 2000 with tech overall.

I don;t know if Facebook would be worth buying into si

Earnings Week - April 10

Interesting week coming up especially banks earnings on Friday including JPM/PNC/Citi

I wonder whether there is an opportunity to buy say PNC pre earnings release in order to hopefully capitalise a bit on the recent panic?

In your eyes do you think the risk adjusted opportunity is there to commit pre earnings? I suppose you could say the same for Delta on Wednesday

Thanks

CURV: in-depth analysis, DD, and potential for short squeeze

Torrid (ticker: CURV) is an omni-channel plus-size apparel retailer targeting American women in their 20s and 30s. The company operates over 600 stores located primarily in malls throughout the US and Canada.

I expect CURV’s share price to rebound from the 4/6/2023 price of $4.25 to $10-20 by the end of 2023, with further appreciation beyond that level in 2024+ if a buyout doesn’t occur before then.

Family friend’s $130k loss, is VOO a safe bet?

A close family friend disclosed that they got involved in the 2020 hype of retail investing (something they’d never done before) and lost 130k of their 200k savings. They are nearing retirement (~10yrs away). I recommended they reach out to a financial advisor to determine how best to utilize their remaining balance. Given their lower risk appetite the advisor recommended reinvesting in VOO and just letting the 70k sit and grow over time. Our friend has a 401k t

Short SP500 long oil, who is with me?

Warren Buffet, Jeremy Grantham, Ray Dalio, Michael Burry and every evil investment-banker alive all agree inflation + higher interest rates are the two absolute worst things for stocks. Why are you long now, can you answer me that? Even Elon got rid of 100B of Tesla stocks at the top in '21 and in April '22, did you? If you want to be long stocks, buy Exxon and other oil and gas, they are cheap and oil will go up.
